Made to Stick

A few years ago I read Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point. It’s an extremely insightful book- I highly recommend it. Recently, Wes referred me to a book called Made to Stick. The authors state how this book is a companion to The Tipping Point as they explore the stickiness of ideas. I must admit- I didn’t read Made to Stick. Rather, to break up the monotony of my weekly commute to Erskine, I listened to the book. It captured my attention (for 7 commutes) and provided great information strengthened by interesting examples and stories. The authors provide an acrostic outline regarding the stickiness of an idea:

Simple
Unexpected
Concrete
Creditable
Emotional
Story

Rest assured, I did not give it all away here- the book expounds on these principles of creating sticky ideas. The implications span business, education, communication, and ministry contexts. So check it out.
